RACE Consultancy

Research projects

Commissioning research is an ideal way to gain insight into the challenges faced by staff, students or service users.

It is incredibly hard for people from the global majority to express their experiences of marginalisation within an organisation. Yet their perspectives are essential for creating an equitable environment.

Exploring sensitive issues through the lens of a race expert can empower organisations committed to dismantling systemic barriers.

Academic support

Students from global majority backgrounds are overrepresented in UK higher education. However, they experience lower levels of satisfaction and often rely on external support networks to succeed educationally.

RACE Consultancy offers culturally sensitive external support for global majority students, enabling them to achieve and enjoy their educational journeys. Postgraduates can flourish with guidance from an educator with both academic knowledge and lived experience of race in education.

Services include PhD supervision, academic mentoring, thesis editing, proof reading and external examiner services.

Community engagement

RACE Consultancy is a community organisation committed to improving the education and employment experiences of people from the global majority.

Organisations with a social justice agenda sometimes struggle to engage meaningfully with marginalised communities.

RACE Consultancy bridges that gap by undertaking collaborative projects with educators, employers and communities. Community engagement activities also include delivering talks at events, conferences and seminars.

Education & training

Educating and training staff or students to recognise racism in its subtle, everyday forms, is an important step towards challenging inequity and developing racial literacy.

Dr Arbouin develops resources and delivers training to enhance Racial Literacy, Anti-Racism, Decolonising the Curriculum and Black History Month. She breaks down the most complex ideas and conveys them in a straightforward way. Her friendly and sensitive approach creates a safe space, where learners from all backgrounds can improve their understandings and analyse their own lived experiences of race and racism.
